Online PRN listing proves popular
Most waste reprocessors are already confident about using the National Packaging Waste Database (NPWD) even though the new electronic packaging recovery note system does not go live until the end of next month.
Phil Conran, chairman of the Advisory Committee on Packaging, which is leading the NPWD project, said 83% of returns from industry had been submitted online by the end of the third quarter.
“The ePRN system will provide an electronic snapshot of who is buying and selling PRNs, reduce fraud, provide greater control of access, and enable data to be published more quickly and more accurately,” he said. “Our aim is to get all accredited reprocessors and exporters to understand the benefits it provides both to them and the market.”
The NPWD project team is holding a series of workshops on the new system in January.
