Zebra signs deal with Magellan
Zebra Technologies has signed a global licensing agreement with Magellan Technology to use the latter’s phase jitter modulation (PJM) RFID technology.
PJM technology is largely used to read tags on products that are tightly packed and has been particularly useful for the pharmaceutical, document control and gaming industries.
Following the Magellan deal, Zebra will develop RFID reader modules and tags incorporating Magellan’s ISO-approved PJM technology. Magellan’s reader modules will be embedded in Zebra’s printers and encoders, making smart label and tag programming more efficient.
Bob Cornick, vice-president and general manager of RFID at Zebra, said: “Incorporating PJM capabilities into our high-frequency RFID line will provide customers with the products they need to achieve the exceptionally high read-accuracy and data transfer rates required in these applications.”
