Tetra Pak enjoys strong growth on back of emerging markets

Tetra Pak says strong sales in fast-growing markets such as China, Eastern Europe and the Middle East contributed to a more than 5% sales boost in 2006.

The Switzerland-based company saw sales swell to more than £5,750 million (8,533 million Euros).

It said a focus on innovation, including the development of new packages such as the Tetra Gemina Aseptic line, had helped boost results.

The Gemina Aseptic line, which was unveiled last year, is the world’s first roll-fed gable top shaped package, claims Tetra Pak.

The package is said to be more eye-catching, pour better and be easier to handle.

Earlier this week Tetra Pak made the first deliveries of the new carton to processors in Spain.

It is being used by juice producer J García Carrión, which has launched its premium Don Simón – Gran Selección juice range.

The product has been taken up by major Spanish retailers including Mercadona, Carrefour and El Corte Inglés.
