Plastics specialists to examine biopolymer market at Interpack

The latest developments in biopolymers for packaging will be discussed at Interpack through a programme of events supported by European Bioplastics.

NatureWorks, DuPont and BASF are among the firms exhibiting in the Bioplastics in Packaging events, which will cover all bioplastic types and consider developments in barrier properties, heat resistance and processing.

European Bioplastics is also organising a programme of talks on issues facing the industry.

Interpack will also host Innovationparc Packaging 2008, which will focus on the needs of the packaging supply chain in the FMCG market.

Innovationparc will address areas such as sustainability, point-of-sale techniques and customer convenience through presentations and forums. Companies participating in the event will include Smurfit Kappa, Heidelberg and MAN Roland.

There will also be an "optimised store shelf", based on marketing techniques and an age simulator, to give an insight into the retail experience of the over-70s age group.

Bioplastics in Packaging and the Innovationparc will both take place in Hall 7a of the Messe Düsseldorf.

Interpack runs from 24 to 30 April.
