Stager buys Clear Packaging

Stager, the leading transparent plastic packaging and thermoformed packaging producer, has acquired Clear Packaging of Coventry as a UK base.

The company said that it will now be called Stager Clear Packaging.

Plastic carton, sleeve lid and base producers Clear Packaging had a turnover of £3.25m in 2007 and employs 25 people, whose jobs remain secure.

The company also has a joint venture in China for customers seeking packaging from an offshore source.

Switzerland-headquartered Stager has said that it is "committed" to Clear Packaging's location in Coventry and further investment is planned for the site.

The company said that this investment could include machinery for lids, bases and cylindrical/round drums and containers.

Clear Packaging's existing senior management will remain in place under managing director Ian Jamie and it will be joined by new sales director Jon Bullimore.

The company was recognised as the Starpack Business of the Year in 2007.
