Morrisons CSR programme to focus on packs and bags

Morrisons, the supermarket group, is to give away 10 million reuseable plastic bags as part of a corporate social responsibility programme that launches on 19 May.

The programme, called Today, will launch with the giveaway of the bags featuring the message 'Today, I'm doing my bit for tomorrow with this reusable bag.'

It is the first phase of the supermarket's plan to reduce the environmental impact of its carrier bags by 25% by the end of the year.

A second promotional drive will focus on how much packaging it is saving on its products.

The supermarket declined to give any further details of the programme.

Morrisons is a signatory of the Courtauld Commitment, the agreement between the Waste & Resources Action Programme (Wrap) and major retailers and brand owners to reduce packaging.
