BAMA unveils Jackson as chairman

The British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association (BAMA) has appointed Nigel Jackson, technical director of aerosol valve and accessories manufacturer Precision Valve, as its new chairman.

Jackson, who has replaced outgoing chairman Janie Heywood of Reckitt Benckiser, was unveiled at BAMA's annual lunch yesterday (11 June).

Jackson brings 35 years of experience of the aerosol market to the role.

He has been actively involved with BAMA for the past 25 years. He has chaired the technical committee and in November 2005 he became a member of the executive committee.

Jackson has also taught on BAMA's aerosol technology course.

He said that he views a high involvement with BAMA as "a vital part" of Precision Valve's ongoing commitment to develop the aerosol market at "a time of increasing legislative demands for our industry".

His appointment coincided with the announcement that aerosol filling figures increased by 2.7% to 1.3bn cans in 2007.

BAMA director Sue Rogers said the UK filling industry is "robust" and added that this was "a pleasing situation because 2008 marked the 80th birthday of the aerosol patent".
