Taschen launches packaging book

Book publisher Taschen has launched Package Design Now! its first book exclusively dedicated to modern packaging design.

Taschen described the book as "an encyclopaedic resource on contemporary design for packaging worldwide, from Coca-Cola to the Apple iPhone to De Beers diamonds".

The book includes in-depth case studies of packaging design from top design and branding offices from around the world.

Chapters include: beverages, electronics, food, health and beauty, homecare and hygiene, luxury, pharmaceutical and store and retail.

There are also sections dedicated to materials and processes.

Package Design Now! was written by Gisela Kozak and Julius Wiedemann who both come from a design background.

Argentinian Kozak graduated as a product designer, before completing a PhD in packaging design in Japan, and now works in London as a consultant.

Wiedemann was born and raised in Brazil where he studied graphic design and marketing. He also worked in Tokyo, but as art editor for digital and design magazines.

Package Design Now! is on sale now.
