Mondi, the corrugated packaging specialist, has been recommended for the updated BRC/IoP Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials for its Scunthorpe facility.

The third version of the standard, which was reissued last month, was expanded to include non-food packaging as well as packs for food products.

The Scunthorpe site, which has also recently installed a four-colour printing, multi-point gluing system, becomes the first Mondi plant to receive the new accreditation.

Mondi has corrugated plants across the UK – in Mold, March and Diss, as well as Scunthorpe – and a spokeswoman said the firm would aim to have all sites accredited although had not yet set a timescale.
