Huhtamaki completes negotiations at Finnish plant
Huhtamaki, the consumer packaging manufacturer, has completed negotiations with staff at its Hameenlinna plant in Finland after it announced in August that it was reviewing its rigid packaging business.
In a statement, the company said the result will affect 50 people, mainly through reducing the number of fixed-term contracts and through re-assignments.
Less than 10 permanent employment contracts will be terminated, it added.
The company has already ceased production of rigid plastic consumer goods packaging in Portadown and Gosport in the UK, following volume decline and increases in manufacturing and energy costs.
It also announced that it will close its rigid packaging site in Karlholmsbruk, Sweden by the end of the year.
Ten permanent employment contracts will be terminated
