Wrap goes global for pack inspiration

The Waste & Resources Action Programme is looking overseas for packaging design inspiration with a new study aimed at showcasing best practice around the world.

The study builds on previous work on primary packaging done in conjunction with PIRA International by looking at "technology to deliver improved resource efficiency across all types of packaging".

Charlotte Henderson, Wrap retail supply chain manager said: "The study has significant potential to continue to inspire exciting new ideas and approaches within the UK manufacturing industry."

For the project, Wrap is looking for a partner to help develop a "robust methodology" to record the technologies and systems, which will be published on the Wrap website and displayed at events.

Packaging Federation chief executive Dick Searle is among the industry experts who will steer the project and provide guidance as necessary.

"The global packaging industry has been incredibly innovative over a very long period of time to create smarter packaging and simpler systems," he said.

The deadline for submissions to the project is 12.30pm on 8 October.
