Interlock targets pack firms with energy efficient adhesives

Interlock Adhesives is targeting food and drink packaging firms with hot melt adhesives that run at lower temperatures, enabling them to be more energy efficient and cut their electricity bills.

The Scunthorpe firm has developed the Novacol adhesives that run at temperatures up to 50% lower than traditional ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) hot melt glues.

The adhesives are made from EVA with proprietary additives that enable them to seal cartons and outer cases at reduced temperatures.

Interlock Adhesives sales director Michael Blott said: "We're pushing the significant reduction in energy consumption that is achievable using these adhesives, as well as improved staff safety, lower maintenance costs and less machine downtime compared with standard packaging adhesives."
