ICI Paints selects Crown Aerosols for coatings range

Crown Aerosols Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, has supplied ICI Paints with packaging for its Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun range of metal coatings.

The Hammerite Metalmaster system consists of the paint gun and a paint canister, which uses Crown's bi-compartmented (BICAN) technology.

The 57mm x 207mm package delivers the protective coating at the exact flow rate required to the electrostatic head for subsequent charging.

A plastic inner bag keeps the metal paint and propellant completely separate. This separation ensures propellant is not emitted during dispensing and prevents product from coming in contact with the package itself. The possibility of product drying or hardening is also eliminated, increasing the paint's life span.

Jerry Hodge, global packaging development manager at ICI Paints, said: "We created the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun as a quick and effortless solution for coating intricate metal surfaces, such as railings, decorative gates and garden furniture by painting both sides at once.

"It was essential that the paint canister be just as simple and efficient as the gun itself. By working with Crown, we've been able to turn our vision into reality. The tailor-made container helped us deliver a much needed level of convenience to consumers."

The steel packs, which are available in DIY outlets throughout the UK, are 100% recyclable.

Crown Holdings has five aerosol packaging plants in Europe including one in Sutton in the UK.
