Packaging shines at holography awards
The RFID Crystagram label has won the best packaging award at the International Hologram Manufacturers Association's Excellence in Holography Awards 2008.
The label, designed by Toppan Printing Co, Hitachi and Hitachi Chemical Co, uses the aluminium of the metallised hologram as the antenna for the RFID.
The hologram can be de-metallised to provide an intricate design without affecting the antenna function.
Other packaging products recognised at the awards were the Certified Diamond Blister Pack from Belarus firm Holography Industry JSC and Vacumet's holograms on Hasbro's Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary edition.
API Holographics and API Laminates walked away with the best promotion award for its work with Imperial Tobacco on Lambert and Butler packs, featuring a "starburst visual effect" to create impact at the point of sales.
