Coldpack eyes pharma sales for 24-hour stay-cool pouch
Coldpack is targeting the pharmaceutical industry with an insulated transit pouch that can keep a product at the same temperature for 24 hours.
The pouch is made using the Airliner insulating film that was introduced to the UK last year and can keep products within a 2-8C-temperature range for a day.
Coldpack pharmacist Nicolas Choffel said: "Transporting small quantities or small items is a common requirement for pharmacists or medical professionals and the Coldpack One Day provides a reliable and practical system."
The pouch has two compartments to avoid direct contact between the contents and the ice pack, and is sealed with a zip lock. It is available in three sizes – one, three and five litres – and can be reused.
The Airliner film is manufactured using a DuPont resin that helps minimise heat transfer. It is lightweight but robust to provide shock absorption to protect the contents.
Airliner was first manufactured in 2001 by Cargo Technology. In 2004, Coldpack bought the patent to distribute Airliner in Europe and the following year acquired Cargo Technology itself.
