SCA to launch liquid packaging unit at Foodex

SCA Packaging's industrial division has added to its range of liquid packaging systems and will show the results at the Foodex Meatex exhibition in April.

The new format has an 1,100 sq mm base and extends to 1,100mm in height without a pallet and 1,250mm high when on a pallet.

It can hold up to 1,000 litres of liquid such as butter oils and cream.

The corrugated outer of each pack can be recycled, but the inner plastic liner cannot.

SCA developed the pack in response to customer requirements for a single trip pack to transport various liquids in the food industry, however, there has also been interest from customers in the chemical sector.

The new design reduces the amount of bulge that occurs when the pack is fully loaded, which optimises container space during transport.

SCA specialises in heavy-duty corrugated board packs, which can be an alternative to plastic barrels and drums.

The company will also show a bulk work in progress (WIP) product and a bulk display unit (BDU), designed for the retail sector, at the exhibition, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 6-9 April.

SCA's octagonal WIP pack can store part-finished goods, as well as frozen seasonal produce and cereals in an ambient environment.
