60 jobs saved as Deltaform buys Chiltern from administrators

Chiltern, based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, was placed in administration on 2 June with Philip Watkins of insolvency practitioner Vantis, but was quickly sold as a going concern to Deltaform.

All 60 staff at the £7m-turnover company have been kept on and Deltaform director Richard Adams said that it was the company’s intention to continue to run the Chiltern business as a wholly owned subsidiary.

The deal gives Bridgwater-based Deltaform a second manufacturing site and will increase its turnover to around £27m, while staff numbers will rise to around 240.

Adams told Packaging News: “We see Chiltern as a really good fit for us. The company has a very good reputation and our directors have known the directors of Chiltern for many years.

“The company has a very loyal and long-serving workforce and we are very optimistic for the future of the company.”

Deltaform’s deal will bolster its already wide range of products in the food packaging arena, which cover the bakery, produce, meat and savoury and confectionary markets.

The company, which was founded in 1992, also produces shelf-ready packaging, collation trays and a number of non-food plastic packs.
