Arden Packaging goes into administration

Stockport-based Arden Packaging has gone into administration with the loss of 25 jobs, Packaging News has learned.

Russell Cash and Lindsey Cooper, partners at accountancy firm Baker Tilly, have been appointed as joint administrators of the firm and today (17 November) is their first day on site at the Bredbury, Stockport facility.

Cash said the £2m turnover firm had been “a victim of the very tough trading conditions that are affecting the sector”. “Turnover in 2009 compared to last year is down by 30% and attempts to safeguard the company’s future through additional investment have proved unsuccessful,” he said.

“On appointment as administrators it has unfortunately been necessary to make 25 of the 28 staff redundant. The remaining employees are currently working closely to fulfil existing customer requirements.”

Arden Packaging entered administration yesterday and is run by general manager David Swanston and director Graham Sutherland.

Arden Packaging offers clients services including the manufacture of corrugated packaging, design, printing and packaging consultancy.
