Avery Dennison, the labels manufacturer, has opened a new distribution centre for its Fasson-brand self-adhesive label stocks in Timisoara, Romania.

The centre will serve customers in Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia, as well as Romania.

The company said it hoped that the site would increase the speed of delivery to label converters in the region, with most receiving next-day delivery services.

The 3,750sqm facility is equipped with slitting, core-cutting, rewinding, and automated packaging equipment.

Georges Gravanis, vice president of sales and customer service, said: “In a region where, even in today’s economic environment, there is real and growing demand for labelled goods, it is a logical focus for us to intensify our ability to be closer to our customers, understand their local needs, and enhance the speed of service we are able to give them.”

Avery Dennison had sales of $6.7bn in 2008 and employs more than 36,000 people in more than 60 countries.
