Boxes LPF has upgraded equipment at its Dutch factory in a bid to produce barrier cartons with no defects.

The company has re-engineered its Hermetet machine so it can glue transparent film to the carton in a single production run.

SPD sales and marketing director Chris Hill said the current market situation meant it was “vital to operate as efficiently as possible”.

“By combining carton manufacture with gluing capabilities in one single run, we are doing just that,” he said.

Boxes LPF offers two types of barrier carton – lined cartons and Peeltop cartons – that offer different characteristics for dry products such as sugar, salts and coffees.

Folding lined cartons can be made with a wide range of laminate materials, depending on the requirements of the product, while the Peeltop carton uses a foil that is sealed during the filling process to prevent product leakage.

“By investing in our equipment and technology, we have been able to take a familiar, tried-and-tested process to the next level to ensure that the products we produce remain at the forefront of innovation,” said Hill.

Leeuwarden, Netherlands-based Boxes LPF is part of Clondalkin’s specialist packaging division that includes Harlands Labels, Cartonplex and Boxes Prestige.
