Bunzl snaps up foodservice supplierliz.wells@haymarket.com, 19 March 2009Be the first to comment on this article Packaging and outsourcing group Bunzl has acquired the business of WK Thomas, a distributor of foodservice products in the catering and airline sectors. Surrey-based WK Thomas, part of the King UK group, had been in administration along with the rest of the group. Bunzl has also acquired the business of Industrial Supplies, also part of the King UK group. Bunzl chief executive Michael Roney said: “This transaction demonstrates our ability to take advantage of appropriate opportunities as they arise in what is a particularly tough environment in the UK and Ireland.” Bunzl said the aggregate revenue of the businesses in 2008 was around £35m. The gross assets acquired was estimated to be £900,000, it added. Bunzl operates in 23 countries and employs more than 13,000 people. Speak Your Mind |
