Cadbury forced to halt production due to flooding in Sheffield

Cadbury Schweppes is suspending production at its Sheffield candy manufacturing and packaging facility following June’s severe flooding across northern England.

Factory employees are currently undertaking a major clean-up operation at the site and production is expected to restart within a few weeks.

The extensive facility manufactures an assortment of Cadbury sweets and mints, including the Bassett's Jelly Babies range.

The confectionery giant is working closely with its customers to minimise the impact and is exploring alternative production facilities across its existing network.

The company has insurance in place and will provide an update in its August 1 interim results.
