The Bedford firm, which was founded by managing director Graham Clark in 2006, has added a cold-form blister packer at the plant, bringing the company’s total number of integrated blister packing lines to seven.
Clark told Packaging News that the addition of the plant would improve the company’s flexibility and cater to the changing demands of its customer base.
“Cold form is an additional technology for us. The line brings additional capacity and enhances our flexibility to cater to the broad spectrum of our customers’ products,” he said.
“As our customers profiles develop, it is incumbent on us to anticipate and cater to their future requirements.”
The line is the newest addition in an expansion programme since Central Pharma was founded that have included the acquisition in 2007 of Adpack Europe and the installation last autumn of a four-head liquid filling line.
Clark said: “Our consistent investment since 2006 has seen turnover quadruple and the addition of [the cold-pack line] will enable us to continue towards our strategic goals.”
He added that the growth in turnover had come against the background of a 25% uplift in staff headcount. The company currently produces around 35 million packs every year.
