Mars is reducing the amount of saturated fats in its bars. The Grocer reported that the firm will produce Mars, Snickers and other bars with at least 15% less saturated fat from the summer.

Kraft is reported to be planning to raise its takeover bid for Cadbury ahead of tomorrow’s deadline, after which it has until to 2 February to convince shareholders to accept the offer.

Bread manufacturer Hovis is teaming up with brands such as Sun-Pat peanut butter, Gayle’s honey, Hartley’s jam and Branston pickle, which are also owned by Premier Foods, in a bid to make up ground lost to cereals in the breakfast market.

Page 3 model Keeley Hazell is starring in a 15-minute online game to promote Unilever‘s Lynx Twist. The game, which is designed to test men’s skill at keeping potential girls interested also features Blake Harrison from Channel 4‘s ‘The Inbetweeners’ and Mike Fielding from BBC comedy ‘The Mighty Boosh’.

Twinings has started carrying the Rainforest Alliance certified seal on its Everyday sub-brand after committing to source 100% of the tea from RFA-certified estates by 2015.

Typhoo, meanwhile, has signed up to be a promotional partner for Coronation Street in the soap’s 50th anniversary year and forms part of the ‘Best of British brands’ alongside bread manufacturer Warburtons.

Northern Foods reported sales in the 13 weeks to 26 December had increased by 1.9% and had been in line with expectations.

The Daily Mail reported that Morrisons chief executive Marc Bolland had not secured a release date from his contract to join Marks and Spencer. It continued that M&S could need to pay to get Bolland out of the contract.

Selfridges is selling the world’s most expensive ham. A leg of the Albarragena Ham, from Extremadura in Western Spain costs £1,800 and comes with a certificate to confirm the purity of the breed. Pig farmer and ham expert Manuel Maldonado personally selected the 50 pigs to be slaughtered for the ham.
