CRP Print and Packaging has partnered with GF Smith to create an alternative to traditional glacine pads used in chocolate boxes.

Six months ago CRP set itself the challenge of finding a way of improving its glacine pads and finding new uses for them beyond the confectionery market.

The Corby-based company has collaborated with paper supplier GF Smith to create the Dimplepad, which uses GF Smith papers to line the inner dimple layer.

CRP has developed the Dimplepad so that it can be manufactured on existing machinery at its Corby site and tailored to each client by changing the paper lining.

Alternatively, it is possible to buy Dimplepad by the sheet.

According to the company, the use of GF Smith papers creates a good printing surface that can be used for branding and disassociates the product in people’s minds with the confectionery market in which glacine pads are traditionally used.

Consequently, it hopes to find new uses for the pads and is currently targeting designers to show them the possibilities.

Samples of the Dimplepad proved extremely popular at Easyfairs this week, where the product was publicly shown for the first time.
