Easyfairs confident of ‘positive’ shows

As well as the exhibitors, the shows, which take place at the NEC on 12-13 March, will feature eight Learnshop seminar programmes, including one organised by Packaging News.

Notable speakers include Asda packaging buyer Shane Monkman and Smurfit Kappa UK packaging development manager Phil Husband.

Sun Chemical, Roberts Mart and Snuggledown UK will also show how they took elements of a crisp packet design as a basis for devising packaging for luxury pillows.

Other Learnshop programmes have been organised by Easyfairs, the Waste and Resources Action Programme, Packaging Materials Link and Envirowise.

Representatives of some of the country's major brand owners, including B&Q, Boots, Cadbury, GlaxoSmithKline and Mars, have registered to attend the show.

Pre-show visitor registrations are up 30% on previous years, according to Easyfairs, although it declined to reveal the actual figure.

Show manager Simon Twilley said Easyfairs was "confident it's going to be something very positive for the industry".

"We're going into new territory with Contract Pack and Ecopack and the signs are good," he said.
