Brand and design agency Elmwood is planning growth in the US and Asia after appointing Eliot Schreiber as its global president.

Schreiber, who is based in Chicago, was previously managing director of Brandimage in the city. He grew Brandimage from a fledgling business to a global agency with a staff in excess of 300 and clients with clients including Coca-Cola, Perrier and Campbell’s.

At Elmwood, he will be responsible for growing the agency’s US operations and leading the its global expansion plans, which is likely to include the opening of a Chicago office and the establishment of offices in Asia.

Jonathan Sands, Elmwood’s chairman, said: “With a weak pound and the strong reputation for creativity enjoyed in Britain, in my view there has never been a better time to export design skills which is probably why last year we saw more than 40% of our revenue come from overseas.

“It is also another reason why despite tough conditions at home (which, like many others, have seen Elmwood go through a first round of cost cutting involving consultation on redundancies) we are also looking at further office openings overseas.”

Schreiber said: “Elmwood is a pioneer in branding and design, with a dedicated team of professionals who seek to continually raise the bar with their clients and their brands. I’m excited to have been invited to join them, and to contribute to their future growth, especially in the US and Asia.”

Schrieber’s appointment comes five months after a major shake-up of Elmwood’s global management structure in which directors were given greater international responsibility.
