Skymark Packaging, the Leominster company ravaged by fire last month, has collaborated with the local Jobcentre Plus on a redundancy and advice day.

The event, which was held yesterday at the Talbot Hotel in Leominster, was organised to offer help and advice to Skymark employees at the Leominster site.

Representatives from Jobcentre Plus, Unity the union, HMRC, Hereford Council and the Local Pensions Service were on hand to give advice.

Skymark was unavailable to comment on the event.

Staff at the Leominster site have been temporarily employed at the firm’s remaining Ilkeston and Scunthorpe sites.

In a statement in the Hereford Times, Skymark’s managing director said that “for the next three weeks everyone is in employment”.

“After that we should know more about what our business is like going forward. I’ve had a meeting with Hereford Council about restarting in Leominster.”

Crews from the Hereford and Worcester Fire Service were called to a fire that tore through the Leominster site on 17 June.
