This year’s PPMA Show, which takes place at the NEC from 30 September to 2 October, has been broadened to include new areas dedicated to the environment and food packaging.

EcoTec will focus on helping manufacturers meet their environmental challenges, while FoodTec will concentrate on ancillary equipment and materials for food processing and packaging.

PPMA chief executive Chris Buxton said the new areas, positioned next to the main machinery section of the show, were part of the PPMA's commitment to meet the changing requirements of visitors and exhibitors.

"The environment is a hugely influential factor today in all areas of processing and packaging, while food is one of the largest and most buoyant sectors," he said.

Nearly 200 exhibitors have signed up so far to exhibit at PPMA, and organiser Reed Exhibitions expects 300 in total. More than 6,000 visitors and almost 300 exhibitors attended the previous exhibition in 2006.

The PPMA Show 2008 will take place in Hall 5 of the NEC, with Interplas, the exhibition for the plastics and rubber industries, in Hall 4.
