Fanta’s ‘Fantastic Bag’, made from recycled PET bottles, will launch in Tesco stores next week ahead of National Recycle Week.

British design duo Antoni & Alison designed the graphics for the bag, which can be folded up into a smaller bag when not in use.

Two recycled 500ml PET plastic bottles are used per bag to make the material, known as Greenspun, used in the manufacture of each item.

“We love the idea of a beautiful free gift that combines good design and good ethics,” said Antoni Burakowski of Antoni & Alison.

Coca-Cola, which manufactures Fanta, has set itself the target of using 25% recycled plastic in all its plastic bottles throughout Europe by 2010.

“Working with Antoni & Alison has allowed us to create a beautiful and practical bag out of recycled plastic that really helps our customers to do their bit to be greener,” added Catherine Sleight, marketing director at Coca-Cola Great Britain,.

The bags will be available to Tesco shoppers who purchase of two bottles of two-litre Fanta or Fanta Fruit Twist from 20 May, while stocks last.
