Existing and new customers from a range of sectors, such as pet food, confectionery and frozen fish, have embraced the new service from Foster Packaging.
The County Louth-based company has already produced packs for brands to use as prototypes at shows and when pitching to retailers to stock their products.
Foster Packaging has invested more than EUR1m (£910,000) in equipment, including an HP Indigo press ws4500 and specialised pouch machinery, for the plant, where production began in March.
The company has a series of orders in place for prototypes of packs for brands launching products at trade shows and had interest from companies in the pharmaceutical and toiletries markets.
“Customers can use the service as a means to get into new markets,” said Foster Packaging managing director Joe Foster. “It represents what we would be doing on a full production order.”
Flexible Express has the added benefit of low origination costs, quick changes to designs, texts and languages, localisation and personalisation that come from digital printing.
“For example, it’s easy now for start-up food manufacturers to go straight to market in their own branded packaging, giving them a greater ability to build their own brands and gain market share.”
Foster Packaging has facilities in South Africa, Kenya, the US, the Dominican Republic in addition to the UK and Ireland.
