Gerresheimer has sold its Technical Plastics operations to injection-moulded automobile part manufacturer FBH Group for EUR 12m.

The divestment is in line with Gerresheimer’s strategy to consolidate its glass and plastics packaging business in the pharmaceutical and life science sector.

“Through the sale of the Technical Plastics segment, Gerresheimer has taken a further step in its focus on the core business,” said chief executive Axel Herberg.

The Technical Plastics division produces injection-moulded parts for automobiles and generated sales of some EUR 74m last year. It employs around 430 staff at plants in the Czech Republic, Germany and Mexico.

The EUR12m purchase price includes the debts that FBH has taken over.

Gerresheimer sold its consumer healthcare business in 2008, but has recently opened a seventh pharmaceutical glass packaging facility in China.

The company employs 10,000 people in 40 locations across Europe America and Asia, generating sales of EUR 1.06bn in 2008.
