Digital labels are in the spotlight this month as HP launches the Indigo WS6000 in the same week as the Digital label summit conference in Barcelona.

HP’s new Indigo WS6000 is capable of printing substrates from 12-450 microns at 30m per minute in four-colour mode.

The digital printer, which will be on show at the summit in Barcelona, is compatible with thinner flexible packaging substrates, shrink-sleeve media and even folding-carton material.

It is twice the speed of HP’s WS4500 and is aimed at companies that would previously have had to buy multiple units to achieve volumes required.

Like the WS4500, the WS6000 can be used in conjunction with finishing equipment and is capable of offering four, six and seven-colour Pantone-licensed spot colours.

HP Indigo division vice president and general manager Alon Bar-Shany said the new printer builds on the success of the WS4500 and ”offers a combination of quality, fast turnaround and flexibility that will enable our customers to pursue new revenue opportunities”.

California-headquartered EFI Jetrion Industrial Inkjet Systems will also be exhibiting its Jetrion 4000 UV Inkjet System at the show, to be held in the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos.

EFI’s general manager and senior vice president Dr Ken Stack will speak at the event, which includes seminars on inkjet technology, speed enhancements, resolution, substrate capabilities and future inkjet prospects.

The two-day Digital Label Summit in Barcelona starts today.
