Hine Labels has upgraded from its existing Xeikon label press to become the first company to install a Xeikon 3000 in the

The Rotherham-based company moved into the digital market at the end of 2007 with the installation of the Xeikon 330.

This month, Hine replaced its Xeikon 330 with the new Xeikon 3000.

Bill Hine, managing director of Hine Labels said: “The further enhancements in both image and quality and production speed for the Xeikon 3000 meant that it was a logical step for us”.

The Xeikon 3000 can run substrates ranging from self-adhesive films through to opaque foils, with a maximum width of 322mm, at speeds up to 31.5 feet per minute.

The company can also choose from four-colour printing with the option of spot-colour, security toners or opaque white for use on transparent materials.

“We have to face the fact that run lengths are decreasing across many of our markets and this is what tends to determine which print process we use for a given job,” added Hine.

Hine Labels will hold an open day, in conjunction with Xeikon, in May to display the digital label press.

Xeikon launched the Xeikon 3000 in September 2008.
