Motorola has addressed the green agenda by creating the world’s first carbon neutral mobile phone made using plastic comprised of recycled water bottles.

The Moto W233 Renew has achieved carbon neutral status through investments in renewable energy sources and reforestation.

It has consequently been awarded the Carbonfund.org’s Carbon Free product certification after an extensive product lifecycle assessment.

The phone’s packaging has also been reduced in size by 22% and the box and leaflets have all been printed on 100% post consumer recycled paper.

Corporate vice president, global marketing, Motorola Mobile Devices Jeremy Dale said that the company “wanted to ensure that this device makes the right impact with consumers and the environment.”

The Moto Renew will be available first from T-Mobile in the US from early 2009.
