Nestlé York is set to open a new co-packing facility on its doorstep next week.

Nestlé York is one of the company’s largest distribution centres and so co-packing at the new site will reduce the distance goods are transported for packing.

It has been estimated that co-packing at this new facility could reduce the distance Nestlé’s goods travel around the country by 300,000 miles per year.

According to reports, the site will initially serve the confectionery packing requirements of the Nestlé York site, before expanding into co-packing Nestlé brands from around the country.

Last October Nestlé UK revealed that the new facility would create more than 100 jobs in York and service the entire Nestlé business.

Andrew Dawson was named as managing director of the new site, which is managed by IPS First, Nestlé’s existing co-packing service providers.
