Coca-Cola ploughs £30m into new 'green' site in London

Coca-Cola has unveiled a new £30m high-rise warehouse in north London that it hopes will provide major energy and recycling benefits.

The fully automated Edmonton site can house more than 25,000 pallets, and Coca-Cola estimates 37,700 journeys and 77,600 miles will be saved each year in the distribution of its brands to retail customers in London and the South East.

The company has also set a target to increase recycling and recovery of waste at the site from 95% to 100% by 2008.

Stephen Moorhouse, head of GB operations, said: “This is the largest single amount we have invested in a project for 10 years and will ensure our facility is as efficient as possible on time and energy.”
