Chesapeake splits off specialty chemical packaging division
Chesapeake has split its Boxmore Plastics subsidiary in two to create a new division focusing on specialty chemical packaging.
The new division, known as Chesapeake – Speciality Chemical Packaging, consists of factories in the UK (Crewe), France and China. It will also include the factory that Chesapeake is currently building in Hungary, which opens in September.
According to JP Morvan, managing director of the new division, the company also has plans for further growth.
"We are also looking at further acquisitions or joint ventures to strengthen and extend our integrated network," he said.
In the last year, Chesapeake has invested over £2m in equipment and services for the new division. It currently employs more than 300 people across its four sites.
"The change in corporate identity will not affect the division’s product range or customer base," said Morvan.
Chesapeake’s other plastic packaging operations – factories in Ireland, Mauritius, plus three in South Africa – will continue to trade as Boxmore Plastics. They are primarily focused on the food and beverage sectors.
