Corby Bottlers to be sold 'this month', says administrator

Corby Bottlers, the wine bottler and supplier of bag-in-box wines to supermarkets, should be sold this month.

The Northamptonshire firm and sister company Darlington Wines have continued to trade since they were placed in administration on 18 March.

Andrew McGill, from administrator KPMG in Birmingham, said: "We are in the process of selling the firms to a non-UK wine business, which will hopefully be completed during May."

Corby Bottlers was set up 20 years ago as a contract filler for bag-in-box wines for supermarkets. It later added bottling lines to offer a complete filling, bonding and distribution service.

The firm has three lines filling 75cl, one-litre and 1.5-litre bottles. It employs 80 people at Corby Bottlers and 20 at Darlington Wines. Both firms are on the same industrial estate in Corby.

No-one from the company was available for comment this morning (7 May).
