PFM sells new flow wrapper

Rocialle, the South Wales supplier of medical dressings, has ordered its second flow pack wrapping machine from PFM Packaging Machinery to further increase productivity.

The firm ordered a Mistral flow-wrapper this week after being pleased with the service levels and quick delivery it received from PFM when it installed a Scirocco inverted web flow-wrapper in April.

The Scirocco can produce up to 90 packs a minute with high integrity peelable seals for easy opening, a key feature for Rocialle where accuracy and hygiene is paramount because the dressings are used in accident and emergency departments and need to be quickly accessible.

Rocialle is using the machine to produce a variety of flow pack sizes on printed or plain wrapping material and aims to produce a minimum of eight million packs a year.

An online printer adds production codes and other variable data.

Rocialle manufacturing manager Gareth Francis said the Scirocco has enabled the company to considerably reduce waste and downtime.

He said: "It has increased our productivity far more than we had anticipated."
