Danish group buys ADG Packaging Systems from administrators
ADG Packaging Systems, the vacuum filling business that was once part of Bradman Lake, has been bought out of administration by Danish firm GEA Process Engineering.
The firm has rebranded as GEA Albro following the buy-out, which was completed after ADG was placed in administration with Menzies Corporate Restructuring on 11 November.
ADG, which has 30 staff, turnover of around £4m and supplies powder packaging equipment for industries including dairy and coffee, has become a business unit of the Danish group’s Powder Systems division.
In a statement, GEA described ADG as a "world leader in vacuum filling equipment" and said that the acquisition would strengthen its market position both in developed countries and high growth markets such as Brazil, Russia, India and China.
Other businesses in GEA’s powder systems group include GEA Colby and GEA Avapac, both based in New Zealand.
Neither GEA Albro nor Menzies were available for comment this morning.
ADG Packaging Solutions was formed in April 2007 when the Albro, Dico and Gravfil brands were bought from Bradman Lake Group by a management team led by managing director Roger May.
They had become part of machinery manufacturer Bradman Lake in 2004 as part of its acquisition of GEI Packaging. Bradman Lake itself went into administration in October last year but was bought by Langley Holdings.
