Protective packaging manufacturer Sealed Air Corporation will report net sales of up to $1.2bn for the fourth quarter of 2008, despite the negative impact from foreign currency translation of around $60m.

In a trading statement, the company said that the impact of price increases and the decline of raw material costs during the quarter will result in a “sequential improvement” in gross profit in the quarter.

Sealed Air also noted that it had started to see the benefits of its cost reduction and productivity programme in the quarter, and continued savings from its global manufacturing strategy.

The company, which operates in 52 countries, manufactures recognised brands such as Bubble Wrap, Jiffy protective mailers, Instapak foam-in-place systems and Cryovac packaging technology.
