Skymark has started to reinvest in new equipment a mere two months after fire destroyed its Leominster site.

The packaging film supplier has bought a Fischer & Krecke FP 16S-10 printing press with Smart GPS for its Scunthorpe facility.

The 10-colour press can run at 600m/min and is capable to print on a board as well as films made from polythene, polypropylene and polyesters.

“Since the fire we’ve had to redirect the work load to a number of sub-contractors and to our Scunthorpe facility,” said sales development manager Dan Richards.

According to Richards there is “no definitive answer” as to what will happen with the Leominster site following the fire.

The company lost four presses, a laminator and slitters in the fire and Richards said the firm plans to replace this equipment.

Crews from the Hereford and Worcester Fire Service were called to the Leominster factory on 17 June after a fire tore through the two-storey building.
