Smurfit Kappa gains ISO accreditationsJill Park, 8 July 2009Be the first to comment on this article Smurfit Kappa Recycling has achieved a double whammy of ISO awards after being recognised for its environmental and health and safety management systems. All eight of the company’s UK recycling sites and depots have received the ISO 14001 environmental management system and ISO18001 for health and safety. The company was required to complete a 12 month improvement programme to achieve ISO14001 and implemented stringent health and safety regulations. AJA Registrars conducted the independent audit of Smurfit Kappa Recycling prior to certification. “This official accreditation demonstrates our commitment to environmental protection in all spects of our operations,” said UK operations manager Gary Grant. “With the number of fatal accidents in the waste and recycling industry currently more than the national average, no company can afford to be complacent and we will continue to do anything we can to protect our employees, customers and the public.” Speak Your Mind |
