Smurfit Kappa in float movestevenkiernan, 1 February 2007Be the first to comment on this article Smurfit Kappa has taken the first steps towards floatation on the Irish Stock Exchange. Deutsche Bank, the company’s corporate advisor, has been enlisted to lodge a draft initial public offering (IPO) on Smurfit Kappa’s behalf. Smurfit Kappa was created in 2005 through the merger of Jefferson Smurfit Group with Kappa Packaging. It is also believed that Michael Smurfit, the company’s chairman, will retire upon floatation of the group. Smurfit Kappa declined to comment further.
