Sonoco achieves sustainable forestry certificationJill Park, 15 January 2009Be the first to comment on this article Global packaging company Sonoco has received certification from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) for the management of its 56,490 acres of forest. Sonoco has been awarded certification for its work in practicing sustainable forestry, protecting water resources, promoting and protecting wildlife habitats and more. Senior vice president of Sonoco Recycling and Internal Supply Jim Bowen said: “The certification certainly validates our commitment to sustainable forestry practices and reflects the hard work and dedication of the employees who made it happen.” SFI certification requires companies to pass annual audits, provide proper record keeping and written documentation, interviews and field site inspections.
