Sun Chemical launches infra-red ink

Be the first to comment on this article

Infra-red ink is the latest offering from Sun Chemical to tackle counterfeiters as technological developments weaken the security of ultra-violet (UV) inks.

SunGuard Apollo is an infra-red ink that can either be integrated with other inks, such as UV, or used as a clear varnish.

Sun Chemical said the ink was harder to forge than UV inks and that it did not change the appearance of the pack.

Distribution of SunGuard Apollo is closely monitored and requires customers to disclose their intended use of the ink prior to purchase.

The company declined to name any users of its new range.

New Jersey-headquartered Sun Chemical is a provider of printing inks, pigments and materials to packaging, publishing, coating, plastics and cosmetics markets.
