Six tonnes of packaging lost in North SeaJosh Brooks, 18 December 2009Be the first to comment on this article A container carrying six tonnes of packaging has fallen into the North Sea off Yorkshire, according to reports. The container fell off the Pride of Brailla, a ship that is registered in Antigua but was headed for Blyth in Northumberland, earlier this week. It is so far unclear what sort of packaging has been lost. Coastguards have warned that the container, and another that is carrying eight tonnes of tissue, is floating in the North Sea and is likely to wash up on the north-east coast. A warning has been issued to shipping in the North Sea over the lost containers. Graham Dawson, watch manager for the Marine and Coastguard Agency, told The Yorkshire Post: “These two containers were last seen floating just a metre above the waterline and so shipping in the area really does need to be aware. “In this rough weather they are likely to come ashore. Anyone finding a container should ring the Coastguard.
