Taghleef Industries increases global films presence

Taghleef Industries (TI), the Dubai packaging films manufacturer, will raise its total annual capacity to 290,000 tonnes by the end of 2008, after the opening of a new production line in Oman and the acquisition of Italian firm Radici Film

The merger, which was announced at Interpack in Düsseldorf last week, will help market expansion plans as well as guaranteeing Radici access to raw-material capacity, as the Middle East massively increases polymer production, TI said.

Octal Holdings, which last week began selling its existing output, has said it will have a capacity of 800,000 tonnes per year of PET films and resins by 2010.

TI produces BOPP and CPP films for packaging at four sites in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Australia and Oman, while Radici has BOPP plants in Italy and Hungary.

TI chairman Rashid Al Ghurair said: "Radici Films' expertise, their strong technical and product development capabilities and locations will benefit all our customers around the globe."
