Tetra Pak names new UK managing director

Six months after appointing Thomas Krmendi as managing director for Tetra Pak UK and Ireland, the company has named his replacement

Managing director for Tetra Pak Benelux Rik Jacobs will assume the position as Körmendi’s successor as of 1 September 2009.

Jacobs has previously held roles with Tetra Pak in the US as well as PepsiCo and Albert Hines Food Retail in the Netherlands.

Körmendi replaced Peter Knutsson, who left the UK business in January to take on a group role at head office.  Körmendi is also set to take on a strategic position with Tetra Pak in Sweden.

Körmendi told Packaging News that the Benelux market was “in many ways comparable to the UK market”.

“What we are doing now and what we will be doing when Rik comes on board is continue with the strategy we’ve had.”

This strategy includes focusing on the environmental benefits of Tetra Paks, expanding the company’s innovative portfolio and continuing to serve UK customers from the UK.

“A few years ago customers talked about innovation, the discussion now is about cost and value and in all of these the environment remains very important,” added Körmendi.
